Spencer's interview in full

Spencer, welcome to Stunning Men and a big thank you for taking the time to do the interview. You live in Western Australia, right?

Yes, I am from Perth and now lives in Fremantle.

First thing first ... how did you get into modelling?

It was something that I wanted to try out for fun. I started off doing basic photoshoots with amateur photographers for free to start up a portfolio and became part of community runways like Eco Fashion Week and WA Born Fashion Show.

That’s a great way to get into the industry. What happened next?

For a while there has been a modelling agency contacting me to become one of their models with frequent opportunities. When I agreed, I was instantly doing an underwear shoot and informed about doing another shoot soon after, so I’m curious to where this pathway leads.

What do you think is the most fulfilling thing about modelling?Taking part in a photoshoot or a runway. Modelling is a prestigious industry due to how particulate an agency want their product or event to be advertised. Being selected to become part of that advertisement based on my looks and physique is endearing.

How comfortable are you in showing off your physique in a shoot?
I’ll only go as far as showing my physique in my underwear in a photoshoot. I’m extremely sceptical when I get asked to do nudes.

You are looking amazing. How did you get into such shape?  In high school I did rowing and cross-country which required training hard and exercising regularly. Afterwards I continued to train and exercise regularly when I joined the Fremantle Surf Life Saving Club. My physique is based in being a typical athlete, who wants to train hard so that I can perform better.

When did your passion for fitness start?

I’ve always wanted to live a healthy lifestyle and to become the best possible version of myself, which involved the three pillars of diet, exercise and sleep. Overtime that consistency became a habit, which has created a positive impact on my emotional state purely by eating healthy, exercising regularly and resting. There’s no better feeling towards a healthier happier life.

What keeps you determined and driven to work out? Listening to music always helps, I have socialised training sessions, which gives myself a reason to attend training. Most importantly is the journey goal towards why I want to work out, which has developed my consistency throughout that journey.

What is your diet like?
I don’t drink and I have a fast metabolism, which summarises my diet. I’ve always disciplined myself to eat healthy so that I can stay in shape and perform efficiently when it came to training and living a healthy lifestyle. In the mornings after I train, I make myself a smoothie to provide my body all the nutrients and supplements it needs to recover when starting my day.

If you had a cheat day, what would be your favourite food?

Chips and burgers with BBQ pork ribs.

And what’s the best form of cardio for you?

Besides running intervals early in the morning, majority of my fitness regime is high-intensity interval training. These fitness regimes improve my endurance, VO2 max [maximum amount of oxygen the body can utilise during exercise. It’s a combination of how much oxygen-rich blood your heart can pump and the heart’s efficiency in extracting and utilising oxygen] and boosts my cardio-respiratory health. Stretching is my most important cool down recovery to help relieve tightness and pain while maintaining my strength and flexibility.

Now a few quick fun questions if we may? Do you think you are a good date?

Hard to say when it comes to compatibility. But I like to have an impression that I have a good sense of humour.

Your favourite song or piece of music to play while training or running?

Anime Music Videos (AMV) which are fan-made music videos consisted of clips from Japanese animated shows that are set as an audio track. Listening to AMV really puts myself into that training mindset. I’ve also recently watched a competitive running series called “Run with the Wind” which I found very inspiring when I’m running, I usually play the soundtrack from the series.

Do you have any other passions besides fitness?

Besides the usual Netflix and chill, I enjoy running, training and volunteering with my local surf life saving club in Fremantle.

What can’t you live without?

My watch. I’ve been wearing a watch since I was very young and it would feel strange if I was not wearing a watch. I also prefer to know the time and day just from looking at my wrist.

Could you finish these two sentences for us? You wouldn’t know, but I’m very good at …

… eating. I have a fast metabolism and I love food.

Now ... I’m just not very good at …

… managing my priorities. There’s so much that I want to learn, do, discover and then there’s work tasks that I need to complete and Uni assignments that I need to submit, which always get in the way. Continuously taking care of my health and wellbeing has always been a struggle considering it’s my most important priority.

One last question Spencer, what is your big dream?

Living a fulfilled life with peace and prosperity.

Spencer, it has been a real pleasure to interview you! Thank you for taking some time off your extremely busy schedule and for being such good sport. All the best for the future.
